I used to visit Fleckney in the early 70's and I remember drinking in the 'Cons Club' is it still there?

I lived in Fleckney from Dec 1976 until Oct 1982 when I joined The Army. I have a Brother, Matthew and we lived at 32 Penclose Road. I wonder if there is anyone out there who remebers me and if they do would they like to get in touch? Thanks. Greg

Mrs Joy Wilson
I have just returned from a few days in Leicestershire researching my Grandfather's Family History. I visted Fleckney Church Yard and realised that there could be some members of the Perkins family still living in Fleckney. If this is the case I would like to make contact with them. Can you help me please? Thank you Joy Wilson

Janet Behan
Hi there, my name is Janet Behan and I am researching Fleckney for a new play I'm writing about Bob West, now retired, but top man in the West End theatre world for many years. Bob was evacuated to Fleckney during the second world war. He attended the local Baptist Church and went to Church Langton Secondary Modern School. If anybody remembers Bob from those days I'd be grateful if they'd get in touch. Many thanks

Hello, my name is Mike and I have lived in Fleckney for 30 years

The good bits are :

The village is, on the whole, good natured, and the surrounding countryside is outstanding
I’ve never encountered any problems from the local young people ,
indeed some have been most helpful to me
We raised two sons here
All parking is free
The supermarket is currently ‘upping’ it’s game, and the Post Office presses on

The less good bits are ;

Having read most of the ‘posts’ on your Guestbook,
(a) I’m astounded by the fact that not a single one of your contributors (young or old),
is able to compose a sentence correctly, in basic English, and the spelling is terrible
Has nobody heard of ‘Spellcheck’ or a dictionary ?
What is happening in our schools today ?, and does any of this matter in 2010 ?
(b) The constant ‘thread’ that “we need someone to provide us with something to do”
Why not try, as all previous generations have had to do, use a bit of intelligence & ingenuity
and devise your own entertainment !
There’s a radical thought !

On the whole I think Fleckney is a great place to live

Best Regards to all Mike

Youth Of Fleckney
To be quite honest, i have just looked through at all of the comments people have made about fleckney. Im 15 years old and i live in Fleckney. I have lived there all my life and love it. Sure it can be boring but thats why we do what we do. Everyone complains about us youths but never do anything for us to do. They have built a skate park. Great! what goods that going to do for the people who dont like skating? why carnt we sit at duckpond and chill with our mates. i hate it how adults walk by aswell and look down their noses at you as well because we are young. it's patheitc. Young people do go round drunk making a noise and vandalising but what else is there to do? NOTHING! if everyone is so bothered then get someone to do something about it, get us something to do. We chill in the village get told to move from the police and they get us to go up to the LOCAL park, then people ring the police again because we are up there. so we get told to move again. how saad! We are kids what else do you expect us to do stay in and play barbies or cars when we are teenagers i dont think so. everyone needs to get alife theres plenty more important things to do then pick on the young lot. you were all young once now your all older you just complain about a little bit of noise. adults make more noise walking home from the pub then what we do but do the police go to them? NO! i dont understand why people in fleckney hate the younger generations so much, everyone just needs to grow up and realise that unless they do something about it. e.g get something for us to do and keep us out of trouble, the worse everything is going to get!!

I have just been reading through some of these comments, and is it just me or is there an echo in here? Someone is blatantly posting the same re-hashed comments under a different name! In response to all the "if you don't grow up in...face that fits" stuff, you're mad. I used to live in Fleckney and I can speak for myself as well as my friends/family when I say that we used to accept all newcomers with great enthusiasm. Maybe it's you with the problem? Also, the "trouble with kids" stuff, well yes, they do have nothing to do, but this problem is not unique to this village, it is EXACTLY the same wherever you go - this is what kids do! I think Fleckney is a great place, and I will have fond memories of it forever, especially now I live in London, which is a distinct difference! (Thank you to all those who have posted positive comments about our village, and thanks also to those who created this site)

Hi was just looking at this page and realised that hardly any of the links work, especially in the image gallery. I tried emailing admin to let them know and that bounced back, so I don't know if this is just a really old site and nothing has been updated in so long that it doesn't work, or if the hyperlinks are just corrupt, but maybe someone wants to sort this? I used to live in good ol' Fleckers and would very much like to be able to view the images if possible! Thanks

I have checked all the image links and they work ok for me. Is anyone else having problems with the image links?
